  1. CRA's Auto-fill my return service

The following changes have been made to CRA's Auto-fill my return service:

    • Corrected the display of T4 box 41

    • Corrected the display of T4RSP box 24

  2. Quebec Tax Data Download

The following changes have been made to the Quebec Tax Data Download service:

    • Our Quebec Tax Data Download service feature was not displaying the tax data received from Revenu Québec on the first attempt to download this information. Instead, DT Max was displaying the message "The RQ download completed successfully but there is no data to display". This issue has been fixed in version 24.12.

    • Corrected the display of RL-1 code RJ

    • Corrected the display of RL-1 box L-10

  3. Client suggestions implemented in version 24.12

    1. Keyword added in the T4E group to indicate payments related to COVID-19

Since the T4E slip does not provide a new box that is specific to payments relating to COVID-19, a new keyword EIB-COVID-19 has been added in the T4E group to allow you to indicate COVID-19 payments included in the T4E.

  4. Version highlights

    1. Increase of the Northwest Territories cost of living offset effective July 2021

In the 2021 budget presented on February 4, the Government of the Northwest Territories announced that the cost of living offset will increase on July 1, 2021, from $156 to $208 per adult and from $180 to $240 per child to help residents adjust to the higher carbon price.

The in-house form Northwest Territories Cost of Living Offset for the Period from July 2021 to June 2022 has been revised accordingly.

    2. Inclusion of the Canadian journalism labour tax credit (CJLTC) in the taxable income if allocated to a partner (box 236 of the T5013 slip)

If the partner is an individual, the amount entered in box 236 of the T5013 slip gives entitlement to the CJLTC, refundable on line 47555 of the federal income tax return.

According to the new guidelines for box 236 of the T5013 slip, the CJLTC allocated to a partner is taxable and must be included in his business income in the same tax year. The program will now add the amount in box 236 to the business income.

    3. EFILE authorization within the EFILE defaults menu

Please note that, as of the 2020 taxation year, the selection within EFILE authorization will specify whether the Canada Revenue Agency will be authorized to contact the tax preparer for supporting documentation during pre-assessment or post-assessment review.

The selection within Pre-assessment review contact method (Federal only) and Post-assessment review contact method (Federal only) will determine if CRA is to contact the tax preparer during pre-assessment, post-assessment, or both.

Should you wish to override one or more of these selections, you may do so through the Efile keyword group.
